‘I’m afraid S has been behaving a little oddly today.’
“Really?” I ask the nursery nurse, slightly concerned.
‘Yes, she’s been making some very odd movements.’
“Oh dear, such as?”
‘Well, like this.’ She says, slightly embarrassed.
She flays her arms around as though being attacked by a swarm of giraffes.
“Oh that’s ‘feeding the birds’.”
‘Is it?’
“Oh yes, nothing to worry about there. What else?”
‘What this?’
She drags her knuckles along the floor before leaping upwards.
“Bowling.”
‘Uh huh. And this...?’
She throws her arms out in random directions like a madman catching fairies.
“Well, that’s fireworks. Obviously.’
‘Of course it is. And, are these normal activities for S at home?’
“Oh yes.”
The nursery nurse must have an interesting view of your family now...
